New "RHAMA" music Video ‏

After the warm response for ‘Rhama’, the first single from Majesty, we couldn’t wait to unveil the immense new video.

The story of this video goes back to over a year ago when we heard rumours and stories of a near-mythical subculture of Pakistani wrestlers in Dubai. After finally tracking down the Kushti wrestling league and talking to Tota, a practitioner of this ritualistic sport, we teamed up with the uber-talented Barbu.TV so document his lifestyle. Check out the beautiful result here.

We're going to be heading out on the road very soon now, and are delighted to announce a run of French dates next month:

May 12th - Paris - La Mecanique Ondulatoire

May 13th - Nantes - Wine Nat White Heat

May 14th - Brittany - Festival Le Lac (Main Stage)

May 15th - Angouleme - Le Festival Musiques Metisses

And if you’re currently living large in the UK don’t forget that we’ll be coming around to a town near you soon. Follow this link to check out the locations+dates and grab your tickets.

Amongst these dates is a special celebration of our new album release, held at Oslo on the 11th May. We’re ecstatic to have the brilliant Bamboo supporting us for this gig held in our central hub that is London.

Lastly, we have a new single to be unveiled soon.. so watch this space and if you haven’t already, you can pre-order the new album here!

As always, Peace!

UK Tour + 'Majesty' Pre-Order + DJ Mix‏

Also, shout outs to everyone who graced Eastern Mystics at Paper Dress in Hackney with their presence last Friday! We had an amazing time dancing late into the night with Bas Jan and Super Best Friends Club.

So moving on to our first bit of news...

More music, more mixes

We got another new mix prepared for all those who need some music like, right now! This one comes courtesy of Kamal and was assembled for 264 Crew. Click here to listen!

"Known for their dreamy psychedelia and world music rhythms the Flamingods are making waves across the world. Kicking us off with some vintage Brazilian flavors, Kamal has put together a “connect-the-dots” type mix drawing on the parallels of the music he (and we) loves and blurs the lines between Afro, Latino, and more modern rhythms. One to bring the sunshine out"

Our next Eastern Mystics club night is on Friday 22nd April where we'll have Clara Clara over from Spain alongside the wonderful Super Best Friends Club and we'll be DJing some exotic vibes as usual.

Until then, Peace!

New single revealed / NTS Radio show stream

"All hail Flamingods and their psychedellic music for the soul!" - i-D

We were delighted that i-D premiered the first single, titled "Rhama", from our new album last week - it ran with a nice interview piece with Kamal where he discussed what inspires us to make the music we make and what it's been like for us to operate from different sides of the globe. Have a read of the full article here, and while you're there, might as well have a cheeky listen to the radio edit of "Rhama"!

There's even more of that track to come in due course with a full album the meantime be sure to give it a listen, we hope you like -

We've been working hard on the video for that track as well - capturing an obscure but long running competitive sports scene in Dubai, it promises to be very special, more news about that soon.

Eastern Mystics is upon us again and this time it will return to Rye Wax on the 11th of March. Mr Bongo Soundsystem will be representing the legendary Brighton based label and Chris Read, known for his beautifully crafted DJ mixes including deconstructions of seminal albums will be exploring his more tropical side. Lexus Blondin of Total Refreshment Centre is joining in the action with a mix of 80s afro-funk jams & tropical bubblers galore and, as always, you can count on us to spin some exotic tunes as well. Limited tickets available here -

If you're in need of some good tunes to listen to absolutely right this minute, check out Flamingods' debut show on NTS here.

The show opens with a track by Martin Denny - one of the numerous key influences on Majesty and travels through the mystical sounds of Foog, bangin' tunes from Sean Kuti and the Egypt 80 and Ibibio Sound Machine and a not so sneaky inclusion of our very own "Rhama". There are also a few tracks from our friends Capitol K, Comet is Coming and Shinamo Moki.

And if you haven't got it in your diary yet, our next London show is 11 May at Oslo in Hackney! Tickets are available here -

Until then, Peace! (ノ・ェ・)ノ

Big News

Greetings to you all and welcome to our wesbite!

We’ve got a nebula of crazy shit occurring this year and thought this blog would be the best way of sharing it all without cluttering everyones’ precious social-media real estate. Our first bit of big news for the year: *experimental drum roll*… we’re pleased to announce that we’ve just signed a deal with one of our most loved labels - Soundway Records!

Soundway will be releasing our new album - plenty more details about that will be coming your way in the next few months.

Since releasing Away (2011) with Belly Kids, it seems we’ve been exceedingly fortunate in collaborating with labels which vibe off similar wavelengths to us. These labels put out great releases and express a philosophy that resonates with us and we harbour much love and respect for them. This was undoubtedly the case with the lo-fi garage aesthetes Art is Hard who helped us release Sun back in 2013.

It happened again with left-field-jam-helmed Shape Records when we released Hyperborea back in 2014 and once more last year when releasing our remix follow-up to Sun, titled Moon, with Portuguese based label Lovers & Lollypops.

This time it’s really special. Our love for Soundway Records in particular goes way back to picking up their masterfully compiled releases like Ghana Special: Modern Highlife, Afro Sounds & Ghanaian Blues 1968-81 and Sound of Siam - Leftfield Luk Thung, Jazz & Molam in Thailand 1964-75. We’ve also been big big fans of Soundways original new releases including Ondatrópica, Fumaça Preta, Ibibio Sound Machine and the Meridian Brothers. They’ve even released an album from our boy My Panda Shall Fly!

And so it is truly a real honour, so fully gratifying and insanely exciting to work with a label who isn’t just an influence and soul-mate, but one that we could talk your ear off about with fluent enthusiasm.

We're celebrating the deal signing at our own club night in Hackney on Friday 12 February, where we'll be collaborating with our good friends Sinema City and helping run Super Best Friends Club's monthly residency at Paper Dress Vintage.

All the details are here: - be great to see you there

Finally, we'll be announcing news of our next London headline date very soon - tickets will be going on sale next week, we'll send out all the details once it's announced

Till then, peace! x
